So here you are, working out all the details for your Big Day. Favors, invitations, decisions, opinions- the list goes on and on. It can get a little overwhelming at times, can’t it? Yet in the midst of the chaos, what are you doing to take care of yourself?
When planning an event, it is important to take time to restore your soul. What fills your emotional tank? It may be getting outside for a little while, reading a good book, spending time with friends, or taking a walk to refresh you and give you energy. Perhaps you prefer taking time to be creative, getting your hair cut, sneaking in a nap, or praying. Regardless of what you need to do to regroup and reduce stress, you need to take time for some self-care. When you do, you will be better able to approach your tasks and enjoy your celebration journey.
Not enough time, you say? Even if it doesn’t look like it, you do have time. It doesn’t have to be long-even 15 or 20 minutes can do wonders. Consider taking your lunch outside, or putting on your tennis shoes and spending part of your lunch time going for a short walk. Make an appointment to get your hair or nails done. Booking a time especially for you often will give you a lightness and energy in and of itself. Touch base with a good friend who encourages you. Put on your favorite music and dance as if no one is watching. Pull the shades and take a 15 minute nap. Whether short or long, do something for yourself. You’ll likely find you get your tasks done more quickly and easily if you do. You are worth it! So write it in your schedule-a date with yourself and for yourself. It’s your time to enjoy.
